Learner Profile: CARING
They show sensitivity towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a sense of personal commitment to action and service.
Last week my students brainstormed in groups what being caring means to them and the actions associated with being a caring person. This is a totally independent activity with no input by the teacher.
The children have written individually about the ways they are caring at home and at school. They’ve also written letters to Santa asking for presents for themselves and others.

Hi Nina
I came across your blog yesterday and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Today I went to school very excited about trying the language experience writing approach you have shared. Thank you so much! Your explanations were so clear that I felt confident giving the approach a go today. Already, I can see so many benefits. After one session, the Preps were talking about capital letters, full stops and the difference between letters and words. My professional development goals for the past two years has been to improve my teaching of writing and after trying your approach today, I actually feel that I have found an approach that makes sense to me. I can only imagine how busy you are so thank you for taking the time to create this inspiring blog. I hope you are having a nice start to the year.
Kind regards
Jo
Hi Jo,
Great to hear my blog is inspiring you to use Language Experience. It works! Read PrepD Student Led Interactive Writing- I introduced it to my preps this week and they loved it. It’s such a supportive strategy for young writers.
If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them here.
Cheers Nina
